How to reach us
Email [email protected]. We usually reply within two business days. If your message is about a problem, please include the app version (Settings → About), your device model, and what you did just before the problem appeared — it helps us reproduce it quickly.
Common questions
Where is my data stored? On your device only, in the app’s private storage. owed has no server and no internet permission, so nothing is ever uploaded.
How do backups work? Settings → Export a backup writes a single JSON file and opens your device’s share sheet — save it wherever you like (Files, your email to yourself, cloud storage of your choice). On a new device, Settings → Restore reads that file back.
Can you recover my data if it’s deleted? No — and that is by design. There is no server copy. If you lose the app or the device, the backup file you exported is the only way back. We warmly recommend exporting one now and then.
Why does owed have no internet permission? Because the strongest privacy policy is the one we never have to write. Without network access, your ledger cannot leave your phone — not by accident, not by update, not by us.
Does the chase email get sent automatically? No. Tapping Chase opens a pre-filled draft in your own mail app, in a friendly, neutral, or firm tone. You always press send yourself, and every nudge you log is recorded on the job.
How do notifications work? If you keep the optional daily summary on, your device delivers it at 09:00 — entirely on-device, no server involved. You can turn it off any time.
Can I export numbers for my accountant? Yes — Reports → Export CSV gives you income totals by month, by client, and by currency in a spreadsheet file.

Please describe what you expected, what happened instead, and the exact steps to repeat it. If you can, export a backup first so your data is safe while we look into it.
